In medicine, a chronic illness is a condition that is long-lasting or recurrent. This can include life-threatening diseases such as cancer or it can apply to other debilitating conditions such as neurological disorders, degenerative diseases, and socio/emotional disorders.
Because of their prolonged effects, chronic illnesses can place specific additional stresses on individuals and families outside of the medical symptoms associated with the illness.
I have worked with numerous clients to explore the immediate and long-term issues associated with chronic illness and improve the way that sufferers, caregivers, and family cope with these factors. I can help coordinate medical, financial, emotional, and personal resources to reduce stress, maximize care, and balance the needs of those involved.
